He's lived a life that chronicles the hardships of Jamaican heritage, NYC to VA "get money" exploits and even engaged in psychological warfare on the global scale in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The subject matter discussed in previous full body works such as Genetics and A Higher Learning doesn't take the simplistic view as "the hustler", but actually takes responsibility and gives the perspective of not only the action, but the repercussions of those said actions from a person that's seen it, lived it and been closely engaged with the emotional and spiritual strife. Ameer's offering to us is the glorification of life and all its ups and downs. The Socratic maxim states that "The unexamined life is not worth living". Ameer’s approach is our shining Black prince Malcolm X, "The examined life is painful". Ameer has done work with some of Hip-Hop’s legendary artist and producers such as AZ, Erykah Badu, CL Smooth and others to name a few. On the production side of things he has worked with Arsonist of the (Heatmakers), Eddie F, Baby Paul, Dr. Dre, Chad "Dr. Seuss" Elliott, Eboniks and more. Currently working on his latest body of work titled "The 25th Hour" which will send music in the past and future at the same time. Ameer at the age of 25 has seen and dealt with life's adversities on all levels and it reflects in his aura and music. He is the called the "Son of Song" by people who have worked with him for his creative thinking process. In the words of Ameer..."Enter the Zone"...and let's push the threshold of music. It looks like you've been in heavy promotion mode. I've seen you featured on several websites promoting The 25th Hour. What has your grind been like and what advice would you give a new artist? My grind has been impeccable...for lack of a better word. It has been non-stop and even when you think things are not going well keep on working OFFLINE or ONLINE. As far as new artist I would tell them don't wait for people to do for you what you can do for yourself and this does not happen over night. Keep your cipher tight and faith in God not man, woman or child. That's positive. You seem very god-conscious and your music deals with some not too simple subject matter. Are you concerned about being pigeonholed into a certain box musically, i.e., the earthworm & incense crowd, the neo-crack movement, etc . . ? I’m not concerned about anything these niggas or chicks got to say or categorize because at the end of the day they don't have or heaven or hell for me. People are always going to try and label you though no matter what if they can't identify they start saying he on some next sh*t and all that. I am ME...so they can start all the categorization from there first and foremost. Your bio lists NYC. What section of NYC? I live in Mt. Vernon, NY but have also lived in New Rochelle and VA. To be honest the whole NYC is my playground for the record. You've got a few industry cosigns. Are there any artists or producers that really helped you define your sound? Artistically I can't say any artist or produce helped me define my sound because...I had given it definition before I met the individuals I have thus far. They have definitely helped me out as far as learning the art of recording and the process it takes before a record sounds like a real record. I always had my sound but being around inspirational people does encourage growth in all aspects of your artistry and life. You mentioned apart of your grind was working OFFLINE and ONLINE. You've seemed to create a huge buzz over the internets. What has your experience been like? The web has been the new frontier for music for years. Due to the high-level of traffic online people are becoming more internet conscious with the myspace craze but the net is now becoming the point of focus for the corporate world and underground so it will be interesting to see what happens in near future with it all. The web is like the Wild West so to speak... you just gotta stake ya claim and set up your land. What is your ultimate goal with your music? Make music that transcends time and inspires everybody who listens. Put together one of the most critically acclaimed legendary bodies of music ever known to man so I can sit in my throne amongst the other Kings, provide the type of lifestyle for my family that I want for myself and build a empire that encourages empowerment not separation. I want my music to do it all.... How can people get at you regarding music or bookings? They can reach me and we can take it from there as far as music or bookings. Is there anything you'd like to address or relay to the 88HIPHOP.com audience? Stay in tuned for the 25th Hour...Enter the Zone...go to my websites and get an earful of my music...We are family now so let's act like one...God bless.... http://www.myspace.com/ameerasoulsupreme | ||||
